Northern-Sòng Yúnmén Chán monk and literary polemicist, original surname Lǐ 李, Zhònglíng 仲靈, self-styled Qiánzǐ 潛子, Míngjiào dàshī 明教大師 (title bestowed by Sòng Rénzōng in 1061), of Téngzhōu Xínjīn 藤州鐔津 (Guǎngxī). Took ordination at age 7. In Qìnglì settled at Língyǐn sì in Hángzhōu; in Huángyòu / Jiāyòu travelled to the capital and presented the Fǔjiào biān 輔教編 (defense of Buddhism, with strong filial-piety argument) to Rénzōng, with patronage from Hán Qí 韓琦, Ōuyáng Xiū, and Sīmǎ Guāng 司馬光; the work was admitted into the Dàzàng. Author of Fēi Hán 非韓 (30-piān systematic refutation of Hán Yù), Xiào lùn 孝論, and the Chán historiographical Chuánfǎ zhèng zōng jì 傳法正宗記 (1061) — the principal Sòng Yúnmén assertion of the orthodox patriarchal lineage.
