Jīn Zǒngchí 金總持 (also written 金揔持; honorific Bǎolún dà-shī 寶輪大師 “Master of the Jewel-Wheel”; the proposed Sanskrit reconstructions Suvarṇa-dhāraṇī / Hiraṇya-dhāraṇī are speculative; fl. mid–late eleventh century) was a Northern-Sòng-period Indian translator-monk active in the imperial Translation Institute (Yìjīng-yuàn 譯經院) at Kāifēng. The canonical signature in the Jīn-edition print of [[KR6h0033|the Fó shuō dà-shèng sēng-jiā-zhā fǎ-yì jīng 佛說大乘僧伽吒法義經]] reads “西天譯經三藏寶輪大師賜紫沙門臣金揔持等奉詔譯” — “translated, by imperial decree, by the foreign-Tripiṭaka Bǎolún great master, granted purple, the bhikṣu and minister Jīn Zǒngchí et al.”
The biographical record is meager: he is recorded in the late-Sòng Fó-zǔ tǒng-jì 佛祖統紀 (T2035) and the closing notices of the Tiān-shèng shìjiào zǒng-lù 天聖釋教總錄 as having entered service under 惟淨 Wéi-jìng’s later successors, working on a sequence of Vajrayāna and Mahāyāna translations during the late eleventh century. His translations include [[KR6h0033|the Sēng-jiā-zhā fǎ-yì jīng]] (Jin-edition A1510), which is a fǎ-yì (extracted doctrinal exposition) rather than a complete translation of the [[KR6h0032|Saṃghāṭa-sūtra]], and several Vajrayāna sūtras and dhāraṇī-texts of comparable scale. The exact span of his service in the Yìjīng-yuàn and his date of death are not securely documented.
