Guāngshēn 光深, zì Xīngrán 惺然 (“Awakened Thus”). LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Bànshuǐ Fāyuán 發元 (?–1691). Lifedates unknown. Lead recorder (děng lù / děng biān) of his master’s yǔlù KR6q0539 《三峰半水元禪師語錄》 1 juan, J38 B420, prefaced 1691.
The yǔlù’s preface relates that Guāngshēn first met 華嚴 德玉 in winter 辛未 = 1691 during the Huáyán jiézhì retreat, where his rough-edged Chán confidence earned him “a vigorous beating” from the elder; later, repenting, he presented his teacher’s draft yǔlù to Déyù for vetting and a preface.
