Yìn 印 (Fǎxǐyìn 法璽印 / Zhèngyìn 正印)

Mid-late seventeenth-century Línjì Chán master, 31st-generation Línjì in the Xiàoyán Débǎo → Hànshān Déqīng → Zhuānyú Guānhéng 顓愚觀衡 → Fǎxǐyìn sub-line. Principal dharma-heir and textual-editorial executor of Guānhéng (1579–1646). Full-form Fǎxǐyìn 法璽印 or Zhèngyìn 正印; bare-form Yìn 印 per the Jiāxīng catalog. Sichuan-origin (“蜀人”). 1642 transmission. Received the fǎ-yī + rú-yì + Tripiṭaka + cí-zhǐ wén-quàn lineage-transmission from Guān-héng at Yún-jū-shān Míng-yuè-táng 明月堂 in Kāng-xī 1 winter (1642) along with dharma-brother Fāng-róng-xǐ 方融璽.

Four abbacies. (1) Jiāngxī Nánkāngfǔ Fèngqīshān Tóngān Chánsì 同安禪寺 — first abbacy, entered Kāngxī 1 壬寅 11.4 = 14 December 1662; restoration of the Cáodòng ancestral seat. (2) Yuèshān Lóngmén 越山龍門. (3) Dūchéng Qīnghuàsì 都城清化寺 (Běijīng). (4) Yùzhāng běidì 豫章北地 (Jiāngxī Nánchāng area).

Editorial life’s work. Spent three decades (1646–1675) compiling his master Guānhéng’s 20-juan yǔlù (KR6q0433), surviving the 1662 Yúnjū tomb-fire manuscript-loss and eventually completing the cutting at Jiāxīng Léngyánsì in Kāngxī 14 / 1675 lunar 11. His own 12-juan yǔlù KR6q0434 was cut at the same house six months later, in Kāngxī 15 / 1676 lunar 4.
