Shànhuì 善會 (Jiāshān Shànhuì 夾山善會)
Late-Tang Chán master; dharma-heir of Chuánzǐ Déchéng 船子德誠 and founding patriarch of the Jiāshān 夾山 monastic centre in modern Húnán. His celebrated awakening dialogue with Chuánzǐ on a boat — “throwing the line into the ten-thousand fathoms” — became one of the most quoted gōng’àn-style narratives in Sòng Chan literature. His Heart Sūtra teaching circulated in the Jiāshān-dào 夾山道 phrasing referenced in later commentaries.
