Liào Zìshēn 廖自伸 (fl. late 16th cent.), zì Bócháng 伯常, native of Huánggāng 黄岡 (Húběi). He served as zhī Hǎimén xiànshì (Magistrate of Hǎimén) in late Wànlì. His sole prominent surviving trace is his Wànlì yǐwèi (1595) preface to 彭大翼’s Shāntáng sìkǎo 山堂肆考 (KR3k0052), in which he frames the work via the Wáng Tōng / Mǎ Féngzhì trope of frustrated examination ambition channelled into encyclopaedic compilation.
