Qiáng Jiàn 強健 (fl. late seventeenth–early eighteenth century, 清), early-Qīng Shanghai (上海) physician. Author of the Shānghán zhí zhǐ 傷寒直指 (KR3ef075) in 16 juan — a comprehensive Shānghán compendium drawing on the entire post-Chéng-Wúyǐ commentary tradition and on Lín Lán 林瀾 (zì Guānzǐ 觀子)‘s Shānghán zhé zhōng 傷寒折衷 (1680) as the basis for its second half. The work was not printed in Qiáng’s lifetime and circulated only in manuscript for over 240 years, being first printed from the original draft in the late twentieth century. Detailed biographical information is sparse; Qiáng is known almost entirely through the Shānghán zhí zhǐ itself, where he signs the preface as “(健)“.
