Gotō Konzan 後藤艮山
Japanese physician of the early-to-mid Edo period (1659–1733), patriarch of the Edo kohō 古方 synthesis. Together with 北山友松子 Kitayama Yūshōshi and 名古屋玄醫 Nagoya Gen’i, he is conventionally credited as a founding figure of the Japanese kohō school, which rejected the JīnYuán LǐZhū 李朱 synthesis and returned to 張仲景 Zhāng Zhòngjǐng’s Shānghán lùn 傷寒論 as the authoritative basis of clinical practice. His clinical maxims and case fragments dominate the opening juǎn of KR3ep002 Xiānzhé yīhuà 先哲醫話 anthologised by 淺田宗伯 Asada Sōhaku.
