Xú Chāngzhì 徐昌治
Zì Jìnzhōu 覲周, hào Wúyī dàorén 無依道人 (“Daoist of No Dependence”). Late-Míng / early-Qīng lay Buddhist writer. Native of Hǎiyán 海鹽 (Zhèjiāng). Born 1582; death year not firmly transmitted — active well into the 1660s / early 1670s.
Lay disciple and prolific editor of Chán and Pure Land materials; worked under the patronage of major late-Míng monks including Mìyún Yuánwù 密雲圓悟. Best known for the Pò xié jí 闢邪集 (1639), an anti-Christian polemical compendium gathering Buddhist and Confucian responses to the Jesuit mission, which became a major primary source for seventeenth-century Buddhist-Christian controversy.
Other works include the Zǔtíng zhǐnán 祖庭指南 (KR6q0048) and the Gāosēng zhāiyào 高僧摘要 (selected monastic biographies). Substantial lay output within the late-Míng Buddhist publishing ecosystem.
