Xìngyīn 性音
Early-Qīng Línjì Chán master. Hào Jiālíng 迦陵 (“Kalaviṅka”) and Chuīyú 吹餘 (“Played-Out Remnants”). Imperial title Yuántōng miàojué dàzhì chánshī 圓通妙覺大智禪師 (“Chán Master of Perfect Penetration, Wondrous Awakening, and Great Wisdom”). Native of Fèngtiān-fǔ 奉天府 (modern Shěnyáng 瀋陽 in Liáoníng) — his Manchurian / north-eastern origin, relatively rare among eminent Chán masters of this period, is notable. Lifedates 1671–1726 (died 雍正 4 / seventh month / twenty-ninth day, age 56 per the Lúshān zhì 廬山志 juan 9).
A major figure in the early-Qīng Línjì publishing and patronage network, with close imperial connections under the Yōngzhèng 雍正 emperor (who personally awarded him the imperial title). His own corpus includes the Jiālíng Yīn chánshī lù 迦陵音禪師語錄 (his yǔlù) and multiple compilations. Contributed the continuation-compilation (xù jí 續輯) and postface to the Mùniú tú sòng KR6q0164 compiled by Méng’ān Chāogé 夢菴超格, which the young Xìngyīn would have taken up from Chāogé’s unfinished editorial project when Chāogé died in 1708 (the same year Nà Xìn sponsored the publication).
