Early-Qīng Buddhist monk; zì Xuě-dùn 雪墩 (also referenced as Zhì-yī Xuě-dùn 智一雪墩). DILA Authority A001237. Lifedates unrecorded; died at age 73. Took ordination at age nine; became dharma-disciple of 佛閑 Fó-xián Xù-yī héshàng 佛閑勗伊和尚 of Pǔ-dé-sì 普德寺 in Nán-jīng. At forty he stationed his staff at the Jǐ-míng-sì 鳮鳴寺 ancestral garden; subsequently took residence at Pǔ-dé-sì where he lectured on the Śūraṃgama, the Vimalakīrti, and other major sūtras.
Editorial role: provided shíyí 拾遺 (“gathering of remnants” / supplementary editing) and chóngdìng 重訂 (“re-redaction”) on his master Fóxián’s three-text Lotus Sūtra apparatus (KR6d0092, KR6d0093, KR6d0094); his preface to the front-matter is dated Kāngxī yǐyǒu 康熙乙酉 (= 1705 CE). Two named dharma-disciples: Dǔchū 篤初 and Kǔxíng 苦行.
Note: distinct from the LiúSòng gǎntōng monk Zhìyī of Línglóngsì in Qiántáng (DILA A007466), who is the celebrated “white-ape Brahma-call” (白猿梵召) hagiographical figure of the Sòng gāosēng zhuàn; and from the late-Míng Niànchún Zhìyī 念純智一 (1587–1659).
