Zhìsù 智素 was an early-Qīng Buddhist monk known principally for his pair of works on KR6n0016 Chéng wéishí lùn: the KR6n0048 Chéng wéishí lùn yīnxiǎng bǔyí kē 成唯識論音響補遺科 (X51n0825, structural outline) and the KR6n0049 Chéng wéishí lùn yīnxiǎng bǔyí 成唯識論音響補遺 (X51n0826, ten-fascicle commentary). The “yīnxiǎng bǔyí” 音響補遺 (“phonetic-and-resonance supplement”) title indicates a phonetically-glossed supplementary commentary, designed to fill in lexical and pronunciation difficulties left under-treated in the late-Míng commentaries (especially Zhìxù’s KR6n0047). No biographical material survives independently of his works; he is conventionally placed in the early-to-mid Qīng on the basis of his use of the late-Míng commentarial corpus as a base for his own work.
