Zhìjìng 智靜, zì Yīngníng 攖寧 (“Cradled Quiet”). Cáo-dòng-school dharma-heir of Miánshí Jìngyùn 眠石淨蘊 at Tiāntái Hùguósì 天台護國寺. Native of Shānyīn 山陰 (Shàoxīng). Also extensively trained under 圓悟 Mìyún Yuánwù at Tiāntóng and Dōngshān Ěrmì 東山爾密 (1590–1642). Decisive xǐng on a candle-extinguishment exchange with Ěrmì: when an attendant accidentally extinguished a glass-lamp, Ěrmì shouted huǒ niè 火聻 (“where is the fire?”), and the attendant’s quick reply yǒu zài zhèlǐ 有在這裡 (“right here”) triggered Zhìjìng’s awakening to the zhǐ (DILA A019266).
