Lóu Fǎng 樓昉, zì Yángshū 暘叔 (also spelled 𤾉叔 in some witnesses), hào Yūzhāi 迂齋, was a Southern Sòng prose-stylist and compiler from Yìnxiàn 鄞縣 (modern Níngbō). A student of Lǚ Zǔqiān 呂祖謙 (1137–1181), he served as Zōngzhèngsì zhǔbù 宗正寺主簿. He is best known for two complementary anthological works in the gǔwén tradition:
-
Dōng Hàn zhàolìng 東漢詔令 in 12 juàn — extending Lín Fú 林虙’s Xī Hàn zhàolìng to the Eastern Hàn dynasty, arranged by reign in the same manner; his own preface is dated Jiādìng 嘉定 15 (1222). The work was joined with Lín Fú’s earlier compilation into the 23-juàn Liǎng Hàn zhàolìng 兩漢詔令 (KR2f0011).
-
Chóngbiān gǔwén guānjiàn 崇編古文關鍵 (also called Lóu shìzhāi gǔwén guānjiàn 樓氏迂齋古文關鍵) — an anthology of pre-Tang–early Sòng prose with line-by-line stylistic commentary, fundamental to the Sòng canon-of-prose tradition that Lǚ Zǔqiān had pioneered with the original Gǔwén guānjiàn.
CBDB has no lifedates for him; his floruit is anchored by his 1222 preface to the Dōng Hàn zhàolìng and by his recorded discipleship under Lǚ Zǔqiān (d. 1181). He thus must have been active from at least the 1170s into the 1220s, with a lifespan plausibly c. 1155 – c. 1230.
