Fǎjiè 法界 (late Tang)
Late-Tang Chinese pilgrim-monk who travelled to Central India, procured a Sanskrit manuscript of the Daśabhūmika-sūtra, and on his return invited the Khotanese Tripiṭaka 尸羅達摩 Śīladharma to translate it at the Lóngxīng-sì 龍興寺 in Běi-tíng 北庭 (Beš-baliq, modern Jimsar in Xinjiang). The translation, undertaken c. 789–798 CE in the reign of Tang Dézōng 德宗, survives as Fó shuō shí dì jīng 佛說十地經 (T0287). Distinct from the Eastern Jìn pilgrim Fǎxiǎn 法顯 (c. 337–c. 422), the Northern Sòng translator 法賢 Fǎxián (d. 1001), and the Huáyán figure Fǎ-jiè (法界) sometimes invoked as a personification of the Dharma-realm.
