Jìngfàn 淨範 (Wéizé / Zhèān Jìngfàn 為則 / 蔗菴淨範)
Cáo-dòng-school chánshī of the 淨-generation (= dharma-grandson of Zhànrán Yuánchéng 湛然圓澄 through Sānyí Míngyú 三宜明盂, 1599–1665). Born 1620; died 康熙31 = 1692, age 73. Native of Wújiāng 吳江 (Sūzhōu prefecture); lay surname Jī 嵇. Zì Wéizé 為則 (“To-Be Pattern”), biéhào Zhèān 蔗菴 (“Sugarcane Hermit”). DILA-disambiguated as A016471: 淨範 = 為則 = 蔗菴 = same person.
Formation. 15 out of household; 18 tonsured at Tiáoxī Shuānglín Zhōngān 苕谿雙林中菴. 20 studied wéishí under Xuěháng fǎshī 雪航法師. Pilgrimage to Biànshān 弁山 to consult Mòyīn 默音; xǐng on thunder-clap during pǔqǐng. 21 full precepts at Gūsū Ruìguāng 姑蘇瑞光. Pilgrimage to Zhíshí, Xuějiāo, Yúān 愚菴 (= Sānyí Míngyú), Tiāntóng. 26 returned to Yúnmén as jìshì. 己丑 = 1649 (age 30) formal fùfǎ from Yúān.
Five abbacies. Zuìlǐ Zīshèng 檇李資聖, Yúnmén Xiǎnshèng 雲門顯聖 (Cáodòng flagship — succession-seat after Míngyú’s 1665 death), Cáoshān Hùshēng 曹山護生, Dōngtǎ Guǎngfú 東塔廣福, Dōngguān Tiānhuá 東關天華.
Listed first among Míngyú’s thirty fǎsì. Lone heir: Húān Lǎnwēng Yù 安定關華藏嬾翁遇.

- KR6q0411 《三宜盂禪師語錄》 (Jiāxīng Canon J27 B189) — head compiler of his master’s yǔlù (signed zhù Yúnmén Xiǎnshèngsì ménrén Jìngfàn biān 住雲門顯聖寺門人淨範編). After Míngyú’s death 1665, Jìngfàn led the post-mortem custody of the master’s body and was installed as abbot of Xiǎnshèng. He and his Cáo-dòng-line dharma-brother Tǐngliángtíng 挺俍亭 (= 淨挺) each brought an independent xíngzhuàng to Mùchén Dàomǐn at Tiāntóng requesting the tǎmíng that was then added to the re-integrated c. 1666–67 cutting.
