Jìngxiàn 淨現 (Jíniàn Jìngxiàn 即念淨現)

Late-Míng / early-Qīng Cáodòng Chán master of the 淨-generation (grand-dharma-heir of Zhànrán Yuánchéng 湛然圓澄 through one of the 明-generation heirs). Fǎhuì 法諱 Jìngxiàn 淨現, hào Jíniàn 即念 (“At-Thought”). Native place, lay surname, and precise lifedates not recoverable from the accessible sources; active at Sìmíng Xiàngtián 四明象田 (in the Níngbō mountain cluster) from at least 崇禎己卯 (Chóngzhēn 12 / 1639) winter onwards, succeeding Dàběn lǎoshī 大本老師 who had held the seat for twenty-plus years previously. Held Xiàngtián as a hermitage-seat (ānzhǔ 菴主) rather than a formal public zhǔchí 住持, as evidenced by the absence of shàngtáng 上堂 sermons from his yǔlù.

Work: KR6q0412 《象田即念禪師語錄》 (4 juan, Jiāxīng Canon J27 B191, compiled by the shūjì 淨癡 淨癡 and edited by the ménrén 本致 本致 — to be created if not yet present). The yǔlù carries four prefatorial pieces preserved in calligraphy-plate form (<img:>) in the Kanripo transcription; the textual content of these prefaces is not machine-readable. No xíngzhuàng, no tǎmíng.

Dharma-lineage connection: the 淨-generation places Jíniàn alongside 淨範 Jìngfàn (head heir of 三宜明盂) and Qí Jìngchāo 祁淨超 (KR6q0411 collation-editor). His specific 明-generation teacher is not recoverable from the transcribed portions of the yǔlù; possible teachers include one of the lesser-documented Zhàn-ran heirs (Mìfú 密澓, Kōnghuá 空華, or a sub-branch master).

Sources: KR6q0412 — juan 1 opening sermon (dated 崇禎己卯 = 1639 winter); juan 4 Xiàngtián yǒng 象田詠 for the toponymic identification; juan 1 passage on the predecessor Dàběn.
