Yè Shì 葉適 (1150–1223, Zhèngzé 正則, hào Shuǐxīn 水心, posthumous Wéndìng 文定), of Yǒngjiā 永嘉 in Wēnzhōu 溫州 (modern Zhèjiāng). Principal mature exponent of the Yǒngjiā xuépài 永嘉學派 (shìgōng / “statecraft-utility” school), heir to Xuē Jìxuān 薛季宣 and Chén Fùliáng 陳傅良. Jìnshì 2nd-place (bǎngyǎn 榜眼) of Chúnxī 5 (1178). Held office to Bǎomógé dàizhì. The principal late-Southern-Sòng strategic anti-appeasement voice; advised against the timing of the failed 1206 Kāixǐ běifá but was demoted alongside Hán Tuōzhòu 韓侂胄. Author of KR4d0273 Shuǐxīn jí; of Xíxué jìyán 習學記言 (separately cataloged); and of major classicist works on the Shīpǔ, Mèngzǐ, and Lǐjì. Sòngshǐ j. 434. CBDB id 10749.
