Dǒng Bǐngchún 董秉純 (1724–1794), zì/hào Xiǎoshān 曉山, native of Níngbō, Zhèjiāng. The senior disciple of 全祖望 Quán Zǔwàng and the principal editor of Quán’s posthumous works. Dǒng prepared the clean-copy manuscript of Quán’s Jíqítíng jí KR4f0054 during Quán’s lifetime; when Quán died in 1755 leaving the project unprinted, Dǒng spent the next half-century arranging for the imprint, eventually published as the standard 1804 (Jiāqìng 9) edition. He composed the front-matter Quánshì shìpǔ 全氏世譜 (clan lineage) and Niánpǔ 年譜 (chronological biography) of Quán Zǔwàng, on the model of Hú Zhù’s shìpǔ prefacing the Qiánxī jí of Sòng Lián and Wàn Sīdà’s shìpǔ prefacing Huáng Zōngxī’s Nánléi jí. Dǒng died before the imprint was completed; the print run was carried through by Shǐ Mèngjiāo 史夢蛟 (zì Zhúfáng) of Yúyáo as collator. CBDB id 89485.
