蘇同 Sū Tóng is the author of KR4k0245 Wúchǐ Nú 無恥奴 (Shameless Slaves), a late Qing satirical novel, the “First Collection” of which is preserved in Kanripo. The source file reads “(清)蘇同 著.” Nothing further is known about this author: no entry appears in CBDB, no biographical record has been located in standard Qing sources, and the name may be a pen name. The internal text of the novel indicates the author had “traveled ten years, ten thousand li,” witnessed events up to the Gengzi year 庚子 (1900), and was deeply familiar with late Qing official and commercial culture. The novel’s political satire, its references to the Sino-Japanese War (1894–1895) and the Boxer crisis (1900), and its programmatic preface place the author squarely within the reform-fiction (qiǎnzé xiǎoshuō 譴責小說) milieu of the 1900–1910 decade.
Note: The catalog metadata for KR4k0245 erroneously records author: 第一集 — “第一集” being the volume label, not the author’s name. The source file header unambiguously identifies the author as 蘇同.
