Chén Shàowèi 陳少衛 was an early-to-mid Táng Daoist alchemist, author of two paired alchemical instruction-texts — KR5c0288 Dà dòng liàn zhēn bǎo jīng xiū fú líng shā miào jué and KR5c0289 Dà dòng liàn zhēn bǎo jīng jiǔ huán jīn dān miào jué, both composed in the Kāi yuán 開元 reign (712–734) under Táng Xuán zōng. His works occupy an important place in the mid-Táng wài dān tradition, particularly on the preparation and “subduing” (xiū fú 修伏) of numinous cinnabar (líng shā 靈砂) and nine-cycle gold elixirs.
