Yǐnyuán Lóngqí 隱元隆琦

Late-Míng Chán monk of Fújiàn who emigrated to Japan in 1654 and founded the Ōbaku 黃檗 school of Japanese Zen Buddhism. He ordained 戴笠 Dài Lì (= Dúlì Xìngyì 獨立性易) as a Buddhist monk in Nagasaki, and through him established a major channel for the transmission of late-Míng Chinese medicine to Japan.
