About the work
The paediatric section of 黃朝坊 Huáng Cháofāng’s (fl. Dàoguāng era) collected medical cóngshū the Jīnguì qǐyuè 金匱啟鑰 (Opening the Lock of the Golden Coffer, c. 1820–1850), a multi-work paediatric, gynaecological, and internal-medicine collection. Huáng was a Qīng paediatric specialist of the Dàoguāng generation; his collected cóngshū is one of the secondary Qīng-period regional-physician compendia. The paediatric volume covers the standard paediatric disease-range in six juǎn and is the principal modern witness to Huáng’s paediatric doctrine.

Abstract
The Jīnguì qǐyuè · Yòukē is the paediatric section of Huáng Cháofāng’s cóngshū. The work’s frame is the standard High-Qīng paediatric synthesis — 錢乙 Qián Yǐ zàngfǔ doctrine, Yīzōng jīnjiàn imperial orthodoxy, integration of mádòu 麻痘 (measles-and-smallpox) chapters from the Wàn-family and 陳文中 Chén Wénzhōng traditions, and Sòng-Míng paediatric prescription practice. The six juǎn cover the conventional paediatric disease-range. The title Jīnguì qǐyuè 金匱啟鑰 (Opening the Lock of the Golden Coffer) evokes the 張仲景 Zhāng Zhòngjǐng Jīnguì yàolüè 金匱要略 canonical reference and frames the work as opening the inherited medical canon for paediatric application. The work circulated principally in regional Qīng paediatric practice and was preserved in late-Qīng cóngshū recensions.
