Yīzōng jīnjiàn · Zábìng xīnfǎ yàojué 醫宗金鑑·雜病心法要訣
Heart-Method Essentials for Miscellaneous Diseases by 吳謙 (奉敕撰) and 劉裕鐸 (奉敕撰), under imperial commission
About the work
The Zábìng xīnfǎ yàojué 雜病心法要訣 (5 juàn) is the internal-medicine zábìng (miscellaneous-diseases) section of the imperial Yīzōng jīnjiàn compendium (KR3e0090 / KR3eu016), within the larger Zhūkē xīnfǎ yàojué 諸科心法要訣 division. The work covers the standard internal-medicine clinical categories — fēng (wind / stroke), hán (cold injuries other than the canonical Shānghán), shǔ (summer-heat), shī (damp), zào (dryness), huǒ (fire), heart-and-spleen conditions, qì-and-blood deficiency, the major emotional-pattern syndromes, the jījù 積聚 accumulation-diseases, fǎnwèi / yēgé digestive obstructions, the yǒngjū internal-organ abscesses, sweating disorders, oedema, jaundice, etc. — in mnemonic verse-form with prose commentary.
Abstract
The xīnfǎ yàojué 心法要訣 format — verse mnemonics (mostly seven-character regulated verse) followed by line-by-line prose explanation and selected prescription — is the signature pedagogical device of the Yīzōng jīnjiàn. The Zábìng chapter integrates the late-Míng synthesis of internal-medicine doctrine (Wáng Kěntáng’s Zázhèng zhǔnshéng (KR3eu011) and Zhāng Jièbīn’s Jǐngyuè quánshū are major proximate sources) with the imperial-orthodoxy of balanced clinical reasoning — neither rigidly warming-tonifying nor rigidly cold-cooling.
Composition window 1742–1749. For the parent compendium see KR3e0090 / KR3eu016; cf. variant entry KR3eu031.
