About the work
The Yòukē zábìng xīnfǎ yàojué 幼科雜病心法要訣 (6 juàn) is the paediatric miscellaneous-diseases chapter of the Yīzōng jīnjiàn compendium (KR3e0090 / KR3eu016). It is the paediatric companion to the adult internal-medicine Zábìng xīnfǎ yàojué (KR3eu020) and complements the Dòuzhěn xīnfǎ yàojué (KR3eu022) which separately covers smallpox and measles.
Abstract
The chapter integrates the foundational paediatric doctrine of 錢乙 Qián Yǐ (cf. KR3eu009) — the five-organ gān 疳 taxonomy, the eight-types childhood-epilepsy classification, the acute / chronic jīngfēng 驚風 (convulsion) doctrine, the chúnyáng paediatric-physiology concept, the index-finger-vein diagnostics — with the late-Míng synthesis of 薛己 Xuē Jǐ (KR3eu004) and 王肯堂 Wáng Kěntáng’s Yòukē zhǔnshéng (KR3eu015), presented in the imperial mnemonic-verse-and-commentary format. Six juan cover: paediatric pulse-and-symptom diagnostics, neonatal conditions, the jīngfēng / xián (convulsion / epilepsy) cluster, the five-organ gān (chronic-malnutrition) cluster, the digestive disorders, and the standard paediatric prescription regimens.
