A second supplementary apparatus to Chén Jǐngyuán’s Zhuāngzǐ scholarly programme, alongside [[KR5c0130|DZ 737 Yú shì]]. Preserved as DZ 738 / CT 738 (Dòngshén bù, Yù jué lèi 洞神部玉訣類). The Zá lù 雜錄 (“miscellaneous records”) collects further scholarly-biographical notes, Daoist hagiographic material relevant to the Zhuāngzǐ tradition, and occasional philological observations.

Relation to Chén Jǐngyuán’s Zhuāngzǐ corpus

The DZ 738 Zá lù forms part of Chén Jǐngyuán’s comprehensive Zhuāngzǐ scholarly apparatus together with:

• KR5c0129 DZ 736 Nán huá zhēn jīng zhāng jù yīn yì — the main philological apparatus (1084).
• KR5c0130 DZ 737 Nán huá zhēn jīng zhāng jù yú shì — first supplementary apparatus.
• DZ 738 Nán huá zhēn jīng yú shì zá lù — the present Zá lù.

Together these four form a coordinated scholarly toolkit for reading the Zhuāngzǐ.

The Zá lù typically includes:

1. Hagiographic material on Zhuāng Zhōu 莊周 and other classical Daoist figures.
2. Scholarly anecdotes and records of pre-Sòng commentator-traditions.
3. Miscellaneous observations on textual-interpretive issues not covered in the main apparatus.

Abstract

The Zá lù is a minor supplementary work that completes Chén Jǐngyuán’s extensive scholarly-philological engagement with the Zhuāngzǐ. Together with the main Yīn yì (DZ 736), the Yú shì (DZ 737), and various scattered notes, it demonstrates the depth of late-Northern-Sòng Daoist scholarly engagement with the classical texts.

Dating. Undated. Per the project’s dating rule, and given its parallel with DZ 737, the frontmatter gives 1080–1094 as a conservative window covering Chén Jǐngyuán’s mature-activity period. Dynasty: 宋.
