A brief Jīn-dynasty Quán zhēn commentary on the Daoist scripture Tiān tóng hù mìng miào jīng 天童護命妙經 — a minor text of the hù mìng 護命 (“protect life”) scripture-category invoking celestial youths (tiān tóng 天童) for personal protection. Preserved in the Zhèngtǒng Dàozàng as DZ 632 / CT 632 (Dòngzhēn bù, Yù jué lèi 洞真部玉訣類).

Author

Hóu Shànyuān 侯善淵 (see 侯善淵) — the Jīn-dynasty Quán zhēn master active in the late 12th century. This is one of several short scripture-commentaries that Hóu Shànyuān produced.

Scripture

The Tiān tóng hù mìng miào jīng is a short Daoist scripture of the hù mìng 護命 protective-ritual genre. The scripture addresses Tài qīng 太清 (Great Clarity) celestial youth-deities who provide personal protection against demonic influences and illness.
