Yù quán 玉詮

The Jade Articulation

planchette-revealed devotional-and-doctrinal anthology, transmitted from a zhèng zōng 正宗 (“Orthodox Lineage”) planchette altar (玉壇正宗) over a sustained ministration

A multi-juàn planchette compendium of devotional and doctrinal materials presented as a complete zhèng zōng canon. The contents — surveyed in the table of contents — include: lì tán zōng zhǐ (founding-the-altar’s purport), guī tán guī yuē (rules of taking-refuge), dú quán xīn fǎ (heart-method for reading the Quán), and then a sequence of cult-deity gào (proclamations) under the formal cult-titles: Tài shàng dào dé dà tiān zūn, Wújí Tiān gōng (Limitless Heaven-Lord), Běn shī Yù guāng pǔ zhào tiān zūn, Wén chāng dì jūn Gèngshēng Yǒngmìng tiān zūn, Zhèng yáng dì jūn Fēi xíng jiù jié tiān zūn (= 鍾離權), Fú yòu dì jūn Chún yáng miào dào tiān zūn (= 呂洞賓). The work is the ritual-recitation foundation of a specific planchette altar — internally unidentified, but consistent with the Liú Tǐ-shù-circle / Liǔ Shǒu-yuán-circle of the early-Qián-lóng era.

Prefaces

Lì tán zōng zhǐ (Founding-the-Altar’s Purport, by the Běn shī).The Foundational Master instructed all, saying: do you all know our altar’s lineage-seal? — There are three lineages: first shàng (high), second jué (awakening), third zhèng (orthodox). All the planchette-altars under Heaven, when responding-and-transforming, all emerge from the Shànggōng source-fountain master-school; therefore in establishing an altar-temple, all derive from the Shàng and the Jué — performing-and-transforming. — Only our great altar above-inherits the Yuánshǐ, in-the-middle-penetrates the Jīnquè — therefore the rule names: Yù tán zhèng zōng (the Jade-altar’s Orthodox Lineage). The zhèng covers the jué and unifies the shàng. — As to the seal (印), there are also three meanings: first miào (wonder), second (compassion), third zhào (illumine). All planchette-deities delivering-the-world, attaching-to-the-luán-and-transmitting-the-teaching — base on the zhào yìn (illumine-seal); zhào is the deep-sad-and-firm-vow’s already-being-able-to-illumine-thoroughly the original-self; further hoping the world’s-men together-add to illumine-thoroughly; borrowing the luán to extend their welcoming-and-leading meaning — therefore named the zhào yìn. As to the Yuánhuáng kāijiào (Original Imperial Way-opening), expounded-and-rescued-the-deluded — from the kalpa-cultivation, the miào yìn (wonder-seal) round-and-thick — the luán-and-feathered-pen’s flowing-store hidden-formula — broadly proclaiming…

Abstract

A planchette-altar-rooted devotional and doctrinal compendium, preserving the cult-of-foundation rules, the recitation-script of major deity gào, and the ritual-pedagogy of a particular zhèng zōng altar within the broad mid-Qing planchette network. The work is internally datable to c. 1700–1809 (within the DZJY incorporation window) and is generically continuous with KR5i0027, KR5i0044 etc. The “Yù tán zhèng zōng” 玉壇正宗 self-identification is a marker for the family of altars producing the DZJY corpus.
