About the work
A single-juan sectional-analysis (kē 科) navigational apparatus to 湛然 Zhànrán’s Zhǐguān yìlì (KR6d0132, T1913) by 從義 Cóngyì. Companion to Cóngyì’s longer Yìlì zuǎnyào (KR6d0139, X56n0921) main commentary; together the two works constitute Cóngyì’s complete two-text apparatus on the Zhǐguān yìlì.
Prefaces
The text in the X56n0922 recension carries no separate translator’s preface and consists exclusively of hierarchical structural diagrams.
Abstract
The Yìlì kē provides the structural-outline navigational apparatus to Cóngyì’s Yìlì zuǎnyào, parallel to other Sòng-period kē productions on major commentarial works. The dating is bracketed with the main commentary in Cóngyì’s productive period c. 1062–1091.
