About the work
A five-juan Sòng-period subcommentary on Huìsī’s Dàshèng zhǐguān fǎmén (KR6d0152, T1924) by Liǎorán 了然 (1077–1141), the Northern-through-Southern Sòng Tiāntái master and Vinaya expert. The work is the principal Sòng-period subcommentary on Huìsī’s foundational pre-Tiāntái meditation manual.

Abstract
Liǎorán’s Zōngyuán jì — its title literally “lineage-perfecting notes” — provides systematic Sòng shānjiā 山家 commentary on Huìsī’s foundational meditation manual, integrating the work into the standard Tiāntái scholastic tradition. The composition is bracketed within Liǎorán’s productive period c. 1095–1141.
