About the work
A two-juan Sòng-period commentary by Liǎorán 了然 (1077–1141) on Zhànrán’s Shí bùèr mén (KR6d0157). Companion to Liǎorán’s other major Sòng shānjiā commentary, the Dàshèng zhǐguān fǎmén zōngyuán jì (KR6d0153) on Huìsī’s Dàshèng zhǐguān fǎmén.
Abstract
Liǎorán’s Shūyào belongs to the late-Northern-Sòng / early-Southern-Sòng productive period of the shānjiā commentarial tradition. Together with the broader Shí bùèr mén commentarial corpus (KR6d0158–KR6d0165), it documents the mature Sòng Tiāntái scholastic engagement with Zhànrán’s foundational doctrinal apparatus.
The composition is bracketed within Liǎorán’s productive period c. 1095–1141.
