Suíyuán jí 隨緣集

The Following-Conditions Collection by 靈耀 (Língyào / Língyào Quánzhāng, 著)

About the work

A four-juan Qing-period literary collection by Língyào Quánzhāng 靈耀全彰 — the early-to-mid-Qīng Tiāntái master also responsible for KR6d0012, KR6d0057, KR6d0142, and KR6d0173. The work is the most extensive of Língyào’s literary productions and contains his collected miscellaneous writings on Tiāntái doctrine, Buddhist practice, and broader Buddhist intellectual culture. The title — suíyuán 隨緣 (“following-conditions”) — draws on the standard Mahāyāna doctrinal vocabulary of yuánqǐ 緣起 (dependent-origination).

Abstract

The composition is bracketed within Língyào’s productive period c. 1644–1796 (early-to-mid Qīng era). The work is one of the few substantial Qīng Tiāntái literary collections preserved in the canonical apparatus and is consequently of substantial value for the modern reconstruction of Qīng Tiāntái intellectual culture.
