Abstract
The two-recension transmission of the Mùlián wǔbǎiwèn (T1483a vs. T1483b) reflects the textual variability characteristic of Vinaya-casuistic literature in early-medieval Chinese transmission. The “b” recension is fuller (two fascicles vs. one) and includes additional cases not in T1483a. Both recensions are commented on in the late-Míng works of 性祇 (KR6k0074) and 永海 (KR6k0075).
