Línquán lǎorén píngchàng Tóuzǐ Qīng héshàng sònggǔ Kōnggǔ jí 林泉老人評唱投子青和尚頌古空谷集

Old-Man Línquán’s Evaluation-Singing on Master Tóuzǐ Qīng’s Sònggǔ: Empty-Valley Collection — a six-juan Chán commentary with dual-authorial structure: Sòng-era sònggǔ 頌古 verses by Tóuzǐ Yìqīng 投子義青 (1032–1083) of the Cáodòng lineage, with Yuán-era píngchàng 評唱 (“evaluation-singing” commentary) by Línquán Cónglún 林泉從倫 (b. 1223, hào Línquán lǎorén 林泉老人 “Old Man of the Forest-Spring”). The Yuán-era commentary gives the text its present title. Parallel structure to the Bìyán lù (Kèqín on Xuědòu) and Cóngróng lù (Wànsōng on Hóngzhì) — the great Sòng-Yuán Chán píngchàng tradition.

About the work

A six-juan Cáodòng Chán sònggǔ / píngchàng collaborative commentary, X67 n1303. Non-commentary on a single parent Buddhist text; commentedTextid omitted.

Yìqīng’s 100 sònggǔ verses on classical gōng’àn cases circulated in the Cáodòng tradition from the late 11th century onward. Cónglún’s Yuán-era píngchàng commentary — adding running-expository commentary to each case-and-verse — brings the material into the mature Yuán-Cáodòng lineage-teaching form.
