About the work
Two-juan yǔlù of Yúnfù Dàozhì 道智 雲腹道智 (1613 – 1673-07-13), LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Xiàngyái Xìngtǐng 性珽 象崖性珽 (1598–1651) in the PòshānSìchuān sub-line. Recorded by fǎsì Yuèxián 嶽賢 + Liánshēng 聯昇. Printed as Jiāxīng Canon J34 B309. Juan 2 includes the xíngzhuàng preserving birth and death dates.
Abstract
Authorship. Per the 道智 note: native of Qúxiàn 渠縣 (Shùnqìng, Sìchuān), lay surname Lǐ 李. Conception preceded by mother’s dream of a yìsēng tuōbō 異僧托缽 — a standard xìngshēng topos. Born 1613, died 1673 zuòtuō 端坐而逝.
Dating. notBefore = c. 1650 (post-transmission preaching, after his teacher Xìngtǐng died 1651). notAfter = 1673 (death).
Lineage. Pòshān Hǎimíng → Xiàngyái Xìngtǐng → Yúnfù Dàozhì. Heirs: Huìyě Yìxǐng 會也益惺; Huìyuè Yìyǎn 慧月益眼.
