Tiānzé Néng chánshī yǔlù 天則能禪師語錄
Recorded Sayings of Chán Master Tiān-zé Néng by 機能 (說), 道崇 (錄), 續彌 (錄), 羅開驎 (序), 機雲 (序)
Single-juan yǔlù of Tiānzé Jīnéng 機能 天則機能 (b. 1618-11-12, death year unknown — was 60 in 1677), LínjìYángqí 33rd-generation dharma-heir of Shānduó Zhēnzài 真在 (1621–1672). Native of Huánggāng 黃岡 (Húběi), lay surname Kāng 康. Co-recorded by his attendants Dàochóng 道崇 and Xùmí 續彌 (the latter his fǎsì) tóng lù. Two prefaces: one by the lay dharma-heir of his teacher’s elder co-disciple Jièān, Kōngzhū jūshì Luó Kāilín 羅開驎; and one by his elder dharma-cousin Shíyuán Jīyún 機雲 (also a Zhēnzài fǎsì) dated 康熙十七季歲次丁巳陽月 = 1677 lunar 10 (the catalog era-mismatch — Kāngxī 17 ≠ 丁巳 — is a typesetting slip; 丁巳 = Kāngxī 16).
The yǔlù documents Jīnéng’s hermit-abbacy at Yíshuǐ Yǔqíshān 義水語崎山 (his early hermitage) and Yílínsì 宜林寺 (Húběi). notBefore = 1665 (乙巳秋 — fùfǎ under Shānduó); notAfter = 1677 (preface; printing follows shortly). Printed as Jiāxīng Canon J38 B417.
Contents. Single juan: two prefaces; sònggǔ; jīyuán; chuídài; the Yǔqí sìjǐng 語崎四景 (four landscape verses on the hermitage), sìwēiyí, ten shānjū poems; image-encomia for his teacher Shānduó and his preceptor; zìzàn; and the closing xínglüè (autobiographical sketch).

Other points of interest
The two prefaces juxtapose the perspectives of a lay scholar-disciple (Luó Kāilín, of Jiāxīng) and a dharma-cousin (Jīyún of Máchéng) at opposite ends of the lower-Yangtze / central-Yangtze geographic spread of the Jīnmíng Jièān 介菴 sub-lineage. Both prefaces emphasize Jīnéng’s preference for the hermitage over the official abbacy: Yǔqíshān remained his actual residence, while the formal Yílínsì position was held more nominally. The 山居十首 (ten mountain-dwelling poems) and the Yǔqí sìjǐng are the core literary content of the volume.
