Other points of interest
The double-preface format (zhòngkè + kèzhèng) suggests an iterative editorial history: an initial publication during the master’s lifetime, then a posthumous corrected reissue. The 源流頌 in juan 4 — “verses on the lineage stream” — is an unusual genre marker, presenting a verse-form patriarchal genealogy in continuation of his teacher Fèiyǐn’s program of explicit Línjì-lineage articulation (cf. Fèiyǐn chánshī jìzǔ dào yǐng 費隱禪師繼祖道影).
