Jīngāngjīng zhù sòng shì 金剛經注頌釋

Annotational Commentary, Hymn-Praises, and Explanation of the Vajracchedikā anonymous Chinese composition; critical edition by 達照 (整理)

About the work

A middle-type witness of the Jīngāngjīng zàn cycle — see KR6v0093 for the cluster context. Title and structure differ markedly from the early-type Jīngāngjīng zàn: this recension layers three textual registers — zhù 注 (interlinear annotation), sòng 頌 (verse-praise), and shì 釋 (prose explanation) — around the Vajracchedikā text.

Abstract

The middle-type witness represents an intermediate stage between the bare 50-verse zàn-cycle of KR6v0093KR6v0095 and the fully-developed Liángcháo Fù dàshì sòng Jīngāngjīng of KR6v0098KR6v0100. It expands the zàn-cycle to function as a continuous reading-companion (kēpàn 科判) for Vajracchedikā recitation. The composition window is mid-to-late Táng.
