Benjamin Hobson 合信 (Hé Xìn, 1816–1873), British Protestant medical missionary of the London Missionary Society, active in Macao, Guǎngzhōu, and Shànghǎi from 1839 to 1859. Author of the five so-called Hobson medical books in classical Chinese — Quán tǐ xīn lùn 全體新論 (anatomy, 1851), Bóqiáng yī lùn 博物醫論 (general medicine), Xī yī lüè lùn 西醫略論, Fù yīng xīn shuō 婦嬰新說, Nèi kē xīn shuō 內科新說 — the principal late-Qīng Chinese-language conduit for Western anatomical and clinical knowledge before the Boxer era.
