Dìngliè 定冽, Gǔméi 古梅 (“Old Plum”); often referred to as Wéishān Gǔméi 溈山古梅 from his abbacy at the famous Wéishān 溈山 (Wéi-yǎng-school’s home mountain). LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Huìshān Zhìhǎi 慧山智海. Lifedates unknown — active 1669+. Native of Shàolíng 邵陵 (Húnán); lay surname Wáng 王.

Formation. As a youth attended the yìxiáng 邑庠 (local Confucian academy), but was struck by the urgency of shēngsǐ (life-and-death). Took tonsure and full ordination. Trained for fifteen years under Huìshān Zhìhǎi.

Abbacies (two). Tánzhōu Fúróngshān Guǎnghuà chánsì 潭州芙蓉山廣化禪寺 (Húnán); Tánzhōu DàWéishān Mìyìn chánsì 潭州大溈山密印禪寺 (entered 康熙己酉九月廿一日 = 1669-10-15 as the historic Wéi-yǎng-school home-mountain seat).

Disciple. Tiānyì Jùxiáng 天翼巨翔.
