Sōng 嵩, hào Ěrān 耳庵 / Xióngěrān 熊耳菴, principal LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Tiěméi Sānbāzhǎng Huìlì 慧麗 鐵眉三巴掌慧麗 (1586–1650) and bowl-and-robe inheritor at Tiěméi’s death. Shìshòu 46 (per the closing 附記 of KR6q0453); precise lifedates not given but his career spans 1649 (first abbacy at Guānyīnshān Xióngěrān 觀音山熊耳庵 in 施州衛 / Húběi) through the early 1650s. Native of Fēngdūxiàn 酆都縣 in Chóngqìngfǔ 重慶府 (Sìchuān); lay surname Máo 毛 — same surname as Yuèchuáng Chèliǎo 了 (compare KR6q0447). Tonsured young at Sānxìngān 三姓庵 in his home county; described as chōngdàn guǎ yánxiào, duō círěn 沖澹寡言笑多慈忍.
Formation. Initial training in jiàoshèng 教乘 (sūtra-doctrinal study); converted to Chán on hearing of Chuīwàn Guǎngzhēn 廣真 at Jùyúnsì, cānsuí duō zǎi 參隨多載 — many years residence under Guǎngzhēn until the latter’s 1639 death. Continued under Tiěbì Huìjī 慧機 at Píngdū 平都 yǒu nián 有年; finally consulted Sānbāzhǎng Huìlì at Bǎofēng / Shīwèi, who took him in as jìshì 記室 (secretary) and shǒubǎn 上板 (head-monk on the platform). At Tiěméi’s death (1650), Ěrān received the yīfú 衣拂 (robe-and-whisk) transmission.
Four abbacies. Fúhǔān 伏虎庵 — Xióngěrān 熊耳菴 (Guānyīnshān, Shīzhōuwèi, 1649/10/15 entry per Tiěméi’s testament with the lay-patrons Chén Huàyǔ 陳化宇 and yuànzhǔ Wénzhǐ 文旨) — Huílóng Chányuàn 迴龍禪院 (Jīnfúshān, 1650/9/15 entry with the xuānwèisī qīzhǔ Rǎn Sīróng 冉斯榮 of Zhōnglù 忠路) — Tiānníng 天寧 (final seat). Died at Tiānníng with the testamentary instruction to forward Tiěméi’s yīfá 衣法 onward to Sānshān 三山 (= Sānshān Dēnglái 燈來). Cremation-stūpa at Tiānníng Wǔfēngshān zhī yáng 天寧五峰山之陽.
