Contemporary Chinese scholar of Buddhist studies and Dūnhuáng manuscripts (b. 1948, Shànghǎi). Long-time researcher at the Institute of World Religions, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and at Shànghǎi Normal University. Principal editor of the multi-volume Zàngwài fójiào wénxiàn 藏外佛教文獻 (Buddhist Texts not contained in the Tripitaka, Beijing: Zōngjiào wénhuà / Religion and Culture Publishing, 1995–) — the source series for KR6v entries — and editor of the Zhōnghuá dàzàng jīng 中華大藏經 supplements. Major monographs include Fójiào zhì wéi 佛教志偉, YīnFà fójiào tōng shǐ 印度佛教通史 (Chinese trans.), and numerous studies of Dūnhuáng Chán and apocrypha. He is the principal zhěnglǐ 整理 editor for the majority of KR6v texts in volumes 1–10.
