Early-Northern-Sòng gǔwén polemicist and Yìxué transmitter, zì Bócháng 伯長, of Wènyáng 汶陽 (Shāndōng). Jìnshì of Dàzhōngxiángfú 2 / 1009 (Liáng Gù 梁固’s class). First office Tàizhōu sīlǐ cānjūn (whence the conventional appellation “Aide-de-Camp Mù” Mù cānjūn 穆參軍); demoted to Chízhōu on a slander charge, then to literary clerkships of Yǐng and Cài. Died of illness Míngdào 1 / 1032. Carried the gǔwén program from Liǔ Kāi 柳開 to Yǐn Zhū 尹洙 (his pupil) and thence to Ōuyáng Xiū — the second link of the canonical Sòng gǔwén lineage. Studied shùxué under Chén Tuán’s tradition (probably via Lǐ Zhīcái 李之才) and is a hinge in the transmission of the Xiāntiān tú 先天圖 numerological-cosmological diagrams that reach Shào Yōng 邵雍. Privately printed Hán Yù 韓愈 and Liǔ Zōngyuán 柳宗元 collected works — one of the earliest documented private gǔwén publishing programs of the Sòng. Surviving collection: Mù cānjūn jí KR4d0014 (3 juǎn + 1 juǎn yíshì, edited by Zǔ Wúzé 祖無擇 in 1043). CBDB id 27759, lifedates 979–1032.
