Shèngjiān 聖堅 (*Āryasthira, “Noble-Firm”; lifedates unknown), Buddhist translator active in the Western Qín 西秦 (385–431, in modern Gānsù) and adjacent Hè-xī 河西 polities, fl. late-fourth / early-fifth century. According to the Lìdài sānbǎo jì 歷代三寶紀 and the Kāi-yuán shìjiào lù, Shèngjiān worked at the Western-Qín capital Yǒngshì-chéng 苑川 / 罕井 by imperial commission of the Qǐ-fú 乞伏 ruling house, producing some 14 to 17 translations including [[KR6b0023|Tàizǐ Sūdánà jīng 太子須大拏經 (T171)]], [[KR6b0027|Shǎn-zǐ jīng 睒子經 (T175a)]], and the Luó-mō qié jīng 羅摩伽經 — a partial early Chinese rendering of the Gaṇḍavyūha / “Searching for Maitreya” section of the Avataṃsaka. Different catalogs variously assign him to Western Qín, Western Jìn, or “Qín” generically; modern scholarship (Tang Yongtong; Mizuno) accepts the Western-Qín register-attribution.
