Hú Shù 胡澍 (1825–1872), Hǎifǔ 荄甫 (also 甘伯 Gānbó), hào Shíshēng 石生, was a late-Qīng xiǎoxué (philological) scholar and minor official native to Jīxī 績溪 in Huīzhōu (Ānhuī). A jǔrén of the XiánFēng era, he served briefly in the Hùbù 戶部 (Ministry of Revenue) in Beijing but devoted himself principally to Hàn-philological textual study in the lineage of Dài Zhèn 戴震, Duàn Yùcái 段玉裁, and Wáng Niànsūn 王念孫. He was a close friend of 俞樾 (Yú Yuè), Sūn Yíràng 孫詒讓, Mò Yǒuzhī 莫友芝, and Wéng Tónghé 翁同龢. His main works are the Shuōwén jiězì jiào yì 說文解字校議 on the Shuōwén, the Máo shī yīn 毛詩音 on the Shī jīng, and — undertaken in the last years of his life under the pressure of chronic illness — the Huángdì nèijīng Sùwèn jiào yì 黃帝內經素問校義 (KR3ea006), of which only the first juan was completed; his friend 俞樾 edited and printed the fragment posthumously in 1881. Hú was also a noted seal-carver and calligrapher of the Wǎn 皖 school. He died in 1872 aged 48.
