Liǎowù 了悟

Southern-Sòng Yángqí-branch Línjì Chán monk, styled Xiào’ān Liǎowù 笑菴了悟 (frequently also Língyǐn Liǎowù 靈隱了悟 after his late abbacy at Línglyǐn sì 靈隱寺 in Línān). Native of Chángshú 常熟 in Sūzhōu, lay surname Zhōu 周. Exact lifedates not transmitted.

Dharma-heir of 咸傑 Mì’ān Xiánjié, whom he first met at the Wūjùshān abbacy in Qúzhōu after earlier study under Wú’ān Quán 無菴全. During the Chúnxī period (1174–1189) served as head seat (shǒu zhòng 首眾) at Lěngquán 冷泉. Held abbacies at Qú Xiángfú sì 衢祥符寺 and Hángzhōu Línglyǐn sì 杭州靈隱寺, among others; his biographical notices (Cónglín shèngshì 叢林盛事 juan 2; Kūyá mànlù 枯崖漫錄 juan 2) emphasise his dedication to providing material support for the assembly (zhuān yǐ gōngyǎng wéi xīn 專以供養為心). Co-compiler with 崇岳 Sōngyuán Chóngyuè of the Mì’ān héshàng yǔlù (KR6q0064).
