Chóng 崇 (full dharma-name Xìngchóng 性崇), zì Dàxiào 大笑 (“Great Laugh”); often referred to as Dàxiào Chóng 大笑崇. LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Gāofēng Sānshān Dēnglái 高峰三山燈來 燈來 (1614–1685). Born 明崇禎癸酉腊八日 = 1634-01-07 Gregorian; death year unknown — was 56 in 康熙戊辰 = 1688. Native of Shùnqìngfǔ Yuèchíxiàn 順慶府岳池縣 (Sìchuān); lay surname Lǔ 魯.
Formation. At 5, while accompanying his father studying at Yāshānsì 鴨山寺, heard a monk reading the Huáyán jīng and the daily liturgy — wept “as if rain.” Always preferred to play with the shāmí and dreaded going home. 甲申 = 1644 during the Sìchuān civil war was abducted to Chuāndōng 川東. 壬辰 = 1652 the regional commander Yuán Bǎoshàn 袁寶善居士 brought him to Gāofēng lǎorén 高峰老人 (= 三山燈來) for tonsure. Given the gōngàn “niànfó shì shuí” 念佛是誰 (“Who is reciting the Buddha’s name?”); after long practice, had insight. 丁未 = 1667 received final fùfǎ.

Work. KR6q0557 《大笑崇禪師語錄》 3 juan, J39 B442, recorded by fǎsì Kōngqíng 空情 lù; with prefaces dated 康熙庚午 = 1690 lunar 9 and 康熙壬申 = 1692-02-04 (the latter signed 莆陽超原澹崖氏 — i.e. 超源 of Mǐn, the same Lóng-chí-line preface-writer of KR6q0554).
