Défēng 德風 (also styled Qīnglóng Défēng 青龍德風 from his abbacy at Hùguó chányuàn 護國禪院 / Qīnglóngān 青龍庵). LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Bǎichī Xíngyuán 百癡行元 (1611–1662) — same teacher as Liánfēng Sù 素. Born 明天啟二年壬戌 9/4 丑時 = 1622-10-08 Gregorian. Death year unknown — still active and extending the yǔlù into Kāngxī era. Native of Shàngyáng 上洋 (= Sōngjiāng / Shànghǎi area, Chuānshā 川沙); lay surname Gù 顧.
Formation. 順治乙酉 = 1645 sought tonsure under Dìng-shēng 定生 of Fú-tián-sì 福田寺, but the teacher returned to lay life within five days; Dé-fēng moved to Xīn-róng 心融. Within three months war broke out; took refuge at Jīn-zé chán-táng 金澤禪堂. While listening to a Śūraṅgama lecture, the phrase 空如來藏 ignited his yí-qíng 疑情. Sequential cān: Tāo-míng 韜明 at Lóng-huá; Jù-dé 具德 at Lù-zhí 甪直; Héng 恒 at Nán-xiáng Bái-hè-sì 南翔白鶴寺; Chún-pò 純朴 at Qī-zhēn 棲真. Final fù-fǎ under Bǎi-chī at Yún-jiān Chāo-guǒ-sì 雲間超果寺.
Abbacies. Wǔhú Bōrě 鵡湖般若 (formally entered 戊戌 12/12 = 1659-01-04, but accepted invitation in 丁酉正月初三 = 1657-02-15); Hùguó chányuàn 護國禪院; smaller jīngshè at Lúxī 蘆溪 (an early three-year retreat) and Wèitáng 魏塘.
Work. KR6q0531 《德風禪師般若語錄》 6 juan, J38 B411, compiled by his attendant shìzhě Rúxīng 如惺 děng biān. Prefaced 康熙二十八年八月朔 = 1689-09-14 by lay disciple Shīfēng jūshì Shěn Zōngjìng 獅峰居士沈宗敬. Juan 6 contains an autobiographical xíngyóu 行繇 — the principal source for his life.
