Contemporary Chinese scholar of Buddhist studies and Dūnhuáng manuscripts (b. 1948, Shànghǎi). Long-time researcher at the Institute of World Religions, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and at Shànghǎi Normal University. Principal editor of the multi-volume Zàngwài fójiào wénxiàn 藏外佛教文獻 (Buddhist Texts not contained in the Tripitaka, Beijing: Zōngjiào wénhuà / Religion and Culture Publishing, 1995–) — the source series for KR6v entries — and editor of the Zhōnghuá dàzàng jīng 中華大藏經 supplements. Major monographs include Fójiào zhì wéi 佛教志偉, Yīn-Fà fójiào tōng shǐ 印度佛教通史 (Chinese trans.), and numerous studies of Dūnhuáng Chán and apocrypha. He is the principal zhěnglǐ 整理 editor for the majority of KR6v texts in volumes 1–10.
