Běntǎn 本僼, hào Yuǎnān 遠菴 / Wùān 兀菴. LínjìYángqí dharma-heir of Mùchén Dàomín 道忞 木陳道忞 (1596–1674). Born 1622; died 康熙壬戌 4 = 1682-05-07/06-05, shìshòu 61. Native of Kūnshān 昆山 (Sūzhōu prefecture); lay surname Lù 陸.
Formation. Tonsured at Tiāntóng. Studied under Mùyún [Tōng-]mén 牧雲門 first; final transmission from Hóngjué Mín = Mùchén Dàomín.
Five abbacies. Chángshā Shéndǐng 長沙神鼎; succeeded teacher at Tiāntóng 天童; subsequent Ruìyán 瑞巖 (Níngbō, the title-form 瑞巖遠菴), Píngyáng 平陽, Báiyún 白雲.
Heir. Yīkuí Yuánkuí 元揆 一揆元揆 (cf. KR6q0513).
